The Shedding of Layers
A little life update from me.
For those of you who have been followers since the beginning - I’m talking circa 2014 Mimi & Me Design Co. days, you have witnessed a fair amount of personal and business transformations. From art and homewares design, branding, websites and marketing, commercial interior design, creative direction and styling and even a sprinkling of business coaching, the last ten years have been anything but stagnant. Having launched two businesses during this period, I have been privileged to work with 100s of small businesses locally and internationally, appeared as a Board member for the Creative Women’s Circle organisation, as a guest speaker at Perth EveryWoman Expo and a returning business consultant at Sydney’s Beauty Expo Australia. I’ve held workshops, interviews and masterclasses and helped countless clients craft an authentic and magnetic presence online. It sure has been a wild ride!
The decision to do a complete 180 and start working towards an entirely new career is not something that happened overnight (despite how it may appear online!). For years, I toyed with the idea of pursuing naturopathic medicine, and for years, my rational mind guided me back to the safe and well-established path I was already on. If I’m being honest, there are still moments where I catch myself spiralling into negative thoughts as I question if this decision was made too hastily; is it worth giving up all that I had achieved and built?
But here we are. As I near the halfway point of my degree, I begin to shed the layers of my former identity. Last month, I officially closed my projects at State of Anté in preparation for an unofficial leave of absence from the business. Earlier this year, I joined the team at NatMed Natural Medicine Clinic as a Patient Care / Marketing Manager. The new position, coupled with my intense full-time study load, made it virtually impossible for me to keep up with my commitments in the business. So, here we are, fully immersed in the integrative health world! I’ll still be taking bespoke branding projects, just at a much lesser capacity.
With the new year knocking on our doors, I have big plans for this space.
See you on the other side. T x
